"We all go through a tremendous number of events in our life," Jim Shepherd says. "Some moments are wonderful, other times are difficult. At Verus, we recognize the ups and downs of life and have created a firm with people who are dedicated to standing side-by-side with our clients as they go on their life's journey."
It is what Jim calls “the profound impact” that financial planning provides individuals and their families that drew him to a long career in fee-only financial planning. It is a discipline that, paired with the trust of a skilled professional, provides an environment of commitment to working in the best interests of those we serve.”
As a guiding force of Verus and a company founder, Jim is a primary advisor who helps clients navigate questions related to financial planning, tax, and investment decisions. He is well respected both in the financial community and in the central Virginia region. He is a nationally recognized speaker on topics related to all the disciplines of fee-only financial planning, tax, and investments. Jim holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, a post-baccalaureate certificate in accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a master’s degree in financial planning from the College for Financial Planning®.
