After years in corporate America, Rachel Meredith went searching for a more fulfilling career - one that wasn't focused squarely on profits, that would help other people, and could offer her more of a work-life balance. She found those values at Verus.

“This is a firm that does the right thing, and they have a vision here that I believe in,” says Rachel, who supervises tax preparation and planning for our clients.

A graduate of Virginia Tech, Rachel received a bachelor’s degree with a double major in French and International Studies, concentrating in business. She brings experience from one of the “Big 4” accounting firms, where she provided tax services to individuals and small businesses, consulting for clients with international tax issues.

“Here at Verus, we are invested in working with our clients to anticipate what’s going to happen next and plan for it,” she says. “This role requires being good with numbers and organization, but really, it’s about knowing our clients, their unique tax situation and background, and then guiding them through complicated tax issues. They trust us to ease their tax burden.”

Rachel is co-trustee of Tara’s Children’s Trust, a charity established in her sister’s honor. The Trust provides low-income students with holiday gifts, clothing, backpacks, school supplies and other educational items. When not juggling tax season and her three children’s commitments, Rachel loves traveling and planning for the next adventure.

Rachel is a vice president of Verus and serves on the firm’s management committee.  She also holds the designation of the Enrolled Agent admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.
